What's Up With Posting and Glad to Be Alive!

Post by dstgolf »

Having trouble with posting for some reason so trying to kill two birds with one stone. Every time I try to post a new topic the system forces me through the login route 4-5 times bfore allowing a post. What's wrong at the sites end or mine. Certainly my computer has recently been wiped clean after a virus and am starting fresh. Not sure where the problem lies.

On a different note last week I almost visited the grimm reeper. Pretty scarry. Woke up in the morning feeling fine and suddenly my lips and face started to swell to monstrous proportions. Angioedema struck from nowhere and still don't know the trigger after three days in the ICU and multiple allergy specialists later no one has any idea what almost took me off this planet. I'll tell you it's one thing seeing and treating allergic type reactions but it's another when it happens to you. When your tongue swells 3-4 times it's size and you're choking on your palate and uvulla you get pretty scared. With the laryngeal edema I was a hair from tracheostomy. Waves of hives followed for a week and are settling on high dose steroids and antihistamines.Scarriest part is not knowing what caused the episode. I love the medical term idiopathic. Great when referring to someone elses problems though. Thank god it's not wine! I've already tried and I'm safe!Epipen at hand with everything going through my lips even though all of the allergy testing has been negative. Hopefully this will all be behind me a year from now with full recovery and no recurrances. Until then can only live day by day and hope for the best!

Good grief, I'm glad to hear you're still with us, my man!
I've had a few episodes in my life, from dandelions and pistachios of all things, very, very scary.
I hope you can find the cause of the problem.

I haven't had any problems logging in, has anyone else?

Sorry about that. Did you also have the HAPE a couple of years ago or was that someone else here?

I've never had a serious illness but I'm getting to the age where I'm questioning the immortality of youth. I had some kind of virus a few weeks ago and I was thinking, wow, what if something was really wrong and I was going to feel like this the rest of my days.

Get well.

Wow, that's one frightening story, Danny. You have officially exceeded your quota of medical problems for the next 20 years, so I hereby declare you illness and injury-proof.

I'm glad you made it through relatively unscathed and you were not attacked while you were in some rural area.

Glad to hear you're OK Danny. The epipen inventor works in the office suite just upstairs from my office...

I was going to say I hope you never have another bout. But you know with the kind of power Stuart wields, if he says you can't get sick for the next 20 years, you know it's going to be so.

I haven't had any trouble logging in except from my phone, when I get the same runaround you describe. Sign-in only seems to work from certain screens, like if I'm adding to an existing thread, but not from the home page or if I try to start a new thread, and even then it takes a few tries. So I'm thinking it might be an odd browser/website software incompatibility. I'd ask what browser version you're using but I wouldn't know what to do with the information.

What an awful experience, Danny! Lucie and I are glad you are OK and hope you can figure out quickly what you are allergic to.

No problems logging in for me.

Danny,

Thank goodness you pulled it through! Be strong, man!

Would it be that you got stinged by a spider (or some sort of creatures)?

Best wisges!

Thanks for all of the kind words everyone. It sure was a hell of a time for myself and probably more so for Danielle watching from the sidelines providing as much support as possible. Still is a scare for everyone not knowing what the heck the cause was. Certainly no evidance of a bug bite/sting etc. No new foods,soaps,lovers.....!

Tom,If I had to give up golf and wine you might as well shoot me. My buddies certainly felt they should postpone the event but it would put a dent in our schedules for the summer which have already been arranged. I'd certainly rather be feeling a little under the weather with a great bunch of guys out on the links followed by a fabulous catered meal and even better wines. Pontet Canet is the chosen vertical tasting before dinner this year followed by some assorted greats. 89 Angelus,99 Pingus,96 l'Hermita,98 Lafleur,90 Sir Winston, and others. Couldn't let these beauties wait!

Sounds like a great lineup of wines, Danny. I'm sure the whole day and evening will be even sweeter after what you've been through.

Danny, I'm so glad you came through that episode OK.

But I have to mention that when I read the header, I thought, "me too! I'm happy to be alive!!"

I have not had any sort of life-threatening experience, ever. But at my age, I can tell you all the kids I played with when I was five years old are dead from various causes. It gives you a certain perspective, and I am so glad to be alive, and well, and functioning in every direction that I can think of.

And everyone reading this topic should feel the same way. Life is a gift, and you should be thankful for it.

Hello Danny,

this is a bit worrying and scary. The best thing is that now you're alrigth. Hope this will never happen again to you (or anyone else here). I understand that Daniele must have been really scared. I never had any allergic or reaction like that, but I would be really scare if it happens (tongue X 4, ouch). If it is beind you, and nobody can find why it happened, I hope it will never come back again. I know 2 persons who had really strange reaction like that in the past ( their best guess was allergy to shrimp and paint remover), but never came back again. Weird.

Maybe I must go to Ottawa to see if everything's right with you? I have been talking with Marie-Claude, and it has been a long time since our last time to Ottawa. This is, officially, one of our ''probable'' choice for the summer holiday. Are you in Ottawa for a good part of the summer?

All the best to Daniele, you and the family.

Nic,

The doors are open. Nothing planned but golf this summer. Will likely get away for at least one week during my time off but nothing planned yet. Come on down.

What a mysterious and frightening nightmare. Glad that you are on the mend and I hope you will be golfing again very soon.

Best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery.
