TN: WOW!! 2012 Porter Creek Timbervine Ranch Syrah

Post by jal »

Probably one of the best Syrah we've had in years, could compete with any Cote Rotie short of the La La trio. 95% Syrah, 5% Viognier, bright purple color, violets, meat, olives on the nose, elegant and focused on the palate, smooth tannins, thankfully, not jammy the way some Sonoma Syrah can be,it keeps evolving throughout the meal. This has enough backbone and acidity to accompany a beef roast with potatoes. A bit lacking on the finish but still a terrific bottle. 94

Excellent Sonoma Syrah. The Cali Rhone game is stepping up.

I have been to the "tasting room" a few times and I even bumped into the esteemed early board member Jackdaw.

Is the Jackdaw in NY or is he back in Sonoma these days?

He's in Sonoma, he's the one who turned me on to this winery.
