NM on 2012 Sauternes

I'm not going to go beyond a small 'fair use' quote, but Neil Martin is downbeat on the year.

The 2012 Sauternes might fall short of 2009, 2010 or 2011, but it still adds to the tapestry of variant vintages that convey the fortunes of a wine region.

Many of the greatest estates didn't release a grand vin (Y'quem, Suduiraut, Rieussec etc.)

As consumers have been conditioned for some time now - stick to the odd numbered years.

They are plentiful, inexpensive, and excellent.

In his line of work the pressure of self-censorship must be tremendous.

The scores convey his real feelings, and they are generally low.

No big deal, there is a glut of Sauternes out there.

The only ones that I am waiting to 'correct' in price are the well regarded 2007's which seem to have a persistent premium.

I don't know if that was a function of the dollar (at the time they were imported) or a smaller crop.

But most of the time these things even out, as time goes on.

What about the 2014s? They should be showing up on shelves this year. Good, bad, meh? Any particular standouts?
