Bordeaux Wine Enthusiasts

All are invited to the annual BD Champagne Welcome Reception in my room. It will be held on Friday from about 4pm until 6pm in my room, before the Mr. Vino Friday night dinner. I'll report the room number when I arrive on Thursday.

I don't need an answer now but it would be good to know by a couple days beforehand how many will attend the champagne reception so that I can plan on how many bottles to bring!

Lucie and stefan will be there. With at least one bottle of Champagne.

Paula and I will be there. I will bring a bottle if I have an open slot in the box I plan to ship.

That's great, I'll have plenty at the ready just in case!
So we're going to do a trip to MacArthur's, we'll also have to organize a walk around the WH and monuments.
I've still never been to the Air and Space museum.

Patrick and Brendan will be there. Do we need stems?

I was born in DC and lived in the area until I was 6, and the air and space museum was my favorite by far (though I thought it was called the Aaron Space Museum). You have to see it, Jim.

I just ordered a bunch of cheap champagne glasses from Amazon, they ended up being free with my AmEx points.

This will be my first BD champagne reception.

Is it customary to bring a bottle of champagne? I'd be delighted to, I just want to be sure to follow the norms, by-laws, and protocol of said event.

Normally I bring the champagne, Patrick, I'm sure we'll have plenty, don't feel obligated.

We'll try to get there, Jim, but Gail's just taken a new job and my current project is a death march...

I'm glad we're not having this now - DC will be a war zone tomorrow with the entire Metro system shut down for repairs.

Are the cherry trees already starting to bloom? I saw a pic of the White House yesterday and I thought I saw pink on a tree in the foreground.

Temperatures between 68 and 80 from March 8 to 11 advanced the bloom substantially - and it's supposed to reach 70 again this afternoon.

I will be attending the Friday Champagne reception. I think Marjorie has a conference in Baltimore on that day so I don't know if she will be able to participate.
