TN 2000 Ch. Franc Grace Dieu, St. Em.

Post by AlohaArtakaHoundsong »

Has the MacArthur's label affixed. This wine drank beautifully new, young, now in middle age and I'm sure it will be quite interesting in another 10 years too but this is probably my last bottle. Quite a dark color and evoking some nice dark roast Sumatran, but with plenty of fruity sweetness. A little band-aid in the bouquet, plenty of structure for further ageing. Another small gem from a vintage that produced quite a few, even if some of the better wines are very awkward at the moment. Perhaps it helps that this is, obviously, mostly merlot. But even for the pleasure this has the seriousness of a strong vintage.

I pulled a bunch of lesser known 2000 St Em's from storage this weekend. They have been good, vibrant despite the years.
