Another 1-2 feet of snow, so what better than a 2002 LB? A digression, but last night we had the 2008 Ch. de Fonbel from the "Vauthier stables." Very solid and @$14 very good value. Of course it is more expensive in more recent vintages.

But to the point. One thing that is perhaps unique to 2002 is how consistent the vintage is on the LB. There are no "outliers" or weird birds. This Lafon Rochet just veers slightly to the tannic side; otherwise it is dark, fresh in bouquet, open and filled-in. The tannins are more persistent than some other wines from this vintage but this is developing very well. At $18 back in the day, I thought this the least of the wines I tried and bought at the time but it appears to be a stretch runner.

I bought 3 of these at $18 too. Such an innocent time.

Sounds very nice. Drink or hold with only 3 in the cellar?

Drink one this summer then decide for yourself. No need hurry.
