It's been a year since I bought a few of these and popped my first one, but I think this still qualifies for Howing.

Cork and fill are perfect, deep dark red to the rim.

Need to let this warm up a bit from cellar temp.

Nice nose of cassis, tobacco and mouth-watering umami.

Medium body, red fruits, soft palate feel with low acidity (but not flabby), mellow tannins.

I am proud of you guys.

Really liking the tobacco and earthy, slightly green-tinged notes coming to the fore with a little more time in the glass.

My first bottle of this last year had an odd buttered popcorn/diacetyl note. No hints of that here.

Jim, we've all really come a long way.

I so enjoyed our visit there almost exactly a year ago now. They made us so welcome. Just imagine if we did not have to rush off to Latour we could have spent the whole afternoon there by that swimming pool.

This was the first wine I bought when I got back home. A case for £195 in bond. It tasted so good at the estate. I wonder when is the optimal drinking time for a wine like this? Will it ever close down? I doubt it.

Gerry, let's definitely try to do a Patriots game this fall. My fall schedule is starting to fill up but if we can make it happen we'll do it. I can plan on picking up those six 2012 du Tertres… if there are any left!

You guys have indeed come a long way, Patrick, what a community! Sharing experiences and broadening horizons. I've got a busy BWE year ahead planned with various BWEers in various locales.

No worries Jim, they're resting comfortably in the cellar. I'll get back to you with the game Michael and I are going to. It was going to be the Bills game but with Brady's pending suspension there was talk of changing the game.

Our visit to du Tertre was one of the highlights of our highlight-filled trip to France last year. What a pleasant host we had.

Yes, me too I was impressed by the tour and lunch at Chateau du Tertre. I would have stay there all afternoon, enjoying the pool, the sun, the wines and the company of BWEes and the staff. A nice moment.

Checking back in on this at the still too young age of 6 years old, the 2012 du Tertre is still open for business. No aged complexity and the tannins are still noticeable but offering a great deal of drinking pleasure.

  Cellared since release, perfect cork and fill. Dark red to rim, forward nose of cassis, tobacco and fresh earth. Has not shut down at all, medium body, fresh fruit, good balance, moderate tannins, no real complexity, moderate finish. Has years to go and plenty of upside. Excellent.

I loved the precociousness of this wine in particular and the 2012s in general on our epic tour three years ago.

Do you think this wine will ever gain much complexity with age, or will it always be a quaffer?

I need to try one of those, it was indeed a beauty at that beautiful stop at du Dertre during our France '15 trip one of highlights of many highlights during our 23 estate tour.

Ian, it's got enough tannin and fruit to make old bones. Will it develop complexity or just fade away? I don't know. If I had experience with multiple older vintages I might be able to make an educated guess, but I don't.

I wish I'd bought more so I could find out but I think I'll end up drinking these all young.

Jim, you should get some. I bought mine 100% based on the group's enthusiasm for it during your 2015 trip.

Day 2 the fruit is less crunchy at room temp but at cellar temp it's a Jim How kind of wine.

You're lucky I have them, still have 7 of my own.

I like the 2012, but the 2010 is another beast.

This doesn't seem like it would be mature yet.

Perhaps like the European tradition of sacrificing a spring lamb at Easter.

2006 is nice now though
