TN: 2010 Chateau Senejac

Poured a small glass on opening and gave it a swirl, before decanting the rest.
Immediately I knew this was a great bottle of wine.
Cherries and herbs on the nose. On the palate, ripe red and black fruits, a hint of sweetness, pencil shavings, and a little spice.
The second pour was not as expressive, the third a bit acidic.
Over time the wine opened up to display all the character I discovered on opening: ample fruit up front, pleasing herb and mineral notes, with a backbone of firm tannins, good acidity and a long finish.
Wine like this is why I keep coming back to Bordeaux.
It will surely be a candidate for my WOTY

2010 strikes again.

For 2010 Haut-Medocs I have a nice variety on hand.
I bought a single bottle of 2010 Cantemerle, and a couple of Sociando-Mallet, but they will lay down for a while before I even think about opening.
So far I've been underwhelmed with the 2010 Lanessan. After 3 bottles consumed it hasn't lived up to expectations.
I consumed more than a dozen of 2010 Ch. D'Arvigny 375s over the last 5 month period. They were very good at under $7.50 ea.
Last year, the 2010 Ch. Magnol seemed a bit overextracted and a little bitter for my taste. I put one away to see if it improves.
2010 Larose-Trintaudon is drinking well. My favorite local wine retailer just put some on the shelf so I'll probably pick up a second case.
Another Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc I've taken a liking to is the 2011 Chateau La Tonnelle (WInery Direct at Total Wine), a very similar flavor profile to the 2010 Senejac but lighter weight, and a little more green around the edges.
