2010 Chateau la Tour de By

Post by Nicklasss »

Médoc.

60 % cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot, 5 % petit verdot.

A nice wine, dark blood old red, nose of blackberries, licorice, spices, with light oak, in one strong block. Dark cherries too. In mouth, conçentrated red berries, cherries, light tannins, black berries syrup, strong terroir mineral graphite, good acidity. A nice 2010 Médoc, slightly austere, young, but already very good and promising. Tn: 87-88+.

Tomorrow, my friend Jean-Frédéric (who attend BWE 2014, and is ready for next year) is coming for dinner with all the family. We should drink minimum one Bordeaux.

Say hi to Jean-Frederic for me!
Summer has really exploded here in Maine, wow, this is my favorite time of year.
The tomato and cucumber plants are going wild in the garden.
i really want to get to Quebec in midsummer at some point, it was always my favorite time of year in the province.

I might be in Sherbrooke area around August (before the 6th or after the 7 th). I'll let you know as soon as confirmed.

I'll be in Laval (north of Montréal) July 19th to 22nd, with my brother. Maybe a good time to come visit, so we could open the 1986 Cos magnum?

Or early fall Maine offline in 2016? Lobsters time, with nice white and (gulp???) red Bordeaux, SdR with italian Merlot, many other BWEers, JANULEWICZ nympho girl, and Donald Trump with guns for everyone, to shoot on some bottles of 2015 Chateau Haut-Brion!

I do not think 'austere' is a fair/good way to describe Bordeaux.

Yes, the wines are not as flabby as my local viticulture favors.

But balanced is different from emaciated.

Compare Cate Blanchett to Kate Moss

I have always disliked that word 'austere'.

Of course tonight, I was at a work dinner party, and didn't get to drink anything nice like Nic.

I was subjected to a raft of villainous local wines, only alleviated by the most welcome mandatory tequila shots. (and inexplicably, there was no lime / salt accompaniment)

People here are so loyal to the ferocious local wines, hot and angry, with crazy varietals.

=======

So perhaps harmonious or balanced is the word we seek when we say austere.

Sometimes the slender girls blossom.
