Looking for 2005 Dom Perignon at NH liquor stores

Post by JimHow »

The NH liquor stores are currently stocking the 2006, because of their inventory system they can't tell me if any of the stores still have the 2005 in stock. If any of you other New England guys run into the 2005 Dom Perignon at any of the stores I'd appreciate it if you could let me know. Thanks.

That happened to me once a very long time ago. I ordered a case from their catalog and somehow they ended up delivering to the store the wrong vintage. They just kind of shrugged their shoulders. It was strange how they could be in the business of selling fine wine, and not keep track of vintages.

TotalWine is that way too about some of their stock, so I don't really trust their web site or staff when talking to them on the phone.

I really liked the 2005 Dom Perignon. The 2006 is not supposed to be as good from what I have read.
Vines Wine and Spirits in Orlando has it for $140 per Wine Searcher, which is what NH was selling it for when not on sale.
I've never dealt with that retailer before, not that I'm desperate to have the wine shipped from Florida at that price.

The 2005 you brought to DC 2016 was really terrific, Jim.

Kicking myself for not getting more Patrick, I first realized how great it was when we had it at Rob and Sue's house in March.
NH has good 15% off sales plus no sales tax, which would make a few more bottles that much more attractive. I heard 2005 was a "lower" production vintage, although I don't know how meaningful that would be for Dom Perignon.

Having tasted both in the last few months, I think the 2005 Dom Perignon is much better than the 2006.

Jim, if I see it I'll grab it it for you. How many are you looking for? Already seen the 06' at the Nashua Costco. I guess I should have grabbed some during the Champagne sale.

Gerry the Nashua store told me they have the 2005 Dom in stock, I'll make a run down there after July 1st, they're doing their annual $25 grift certificate for all purchases over $150 deal. Thanks anyway. The 2005 Dom is real nice.
