Anniversary Dinner
Posted: Wed Jun 22, 2016 1:40 pm
13 Years of marriage to Susan.
But the evening had a sad ending.
That's right.
It was sad.
We've had a bottle of 1982 Calon Segur on each anniversary.
Last night was the last bottle.
Went perfectly with rack of lamb.
Guess I'll have to switch to 1982 Montrose.
Still had the price sticker. I bought this bottle on sale at Sams for 45.00.
Had a nice growers champagne, Collon.
In eastern part of the region and butts up to Chablis.
A bargain at 29/bottle.
Then a 1988 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey. 1988 isn't as powerful as 1986. Wonderful apricot and with touch of fruit stone/pit bitterness.
Later as it warmed and we sipped for desert some coconut peaked out.
Nice with Hudson Valley foie gras.
It was outstanding!
Turn me into PETA. For my last meal I'll request foie gras and Yquem.
Nic and Jim (and guests) dined at Barringtons the last time they were in town, so they can attest to the quality and accommodating atmosphere.
The chef pushes the envelope. Sometimes a little bit too ""nouvelle cuisine" " for me.
But excellence is excellence.
And it is just around the corner from home.
Love my wife Susan . Even if we irritate each other at times.
Put two scorpions in a jar and shake and see what happens.......
