98 point $10 wine from corner store

yesterday it was about 90 degrees and humid in DC. So with last night's dinner I had a solid bottle of Vinho Verde mixed with seltzer water, over ice with a squeeze of fresh lemon. 98 points! Better than the 2000 Latour would have been.

It's like 102F where we are. That sounds like a much better choice than what we had -- 94 Michel Schlumberger CS Reserve. It's not a pool side wine. Fruit faded fast in glass. My sister in law made polite sips, and probably quietly thought to herself that she should have accepted the sangria offer instead of the wine geek offer.

Port, salt cod, and vinho verde are three great things from that little Iberian country, which almost make up for all the tainted corks they export.
