Two lovely low key 2008s

It is a Monday night or a Tuesday night. I had Bourgogne rouge the night before, I couldn't face a Cotes Du Rhone, so sod it, I will open up a Bordeaux. Nothing fancy mind.
As luck would have it I went on a major wine buying spree - in France - before the Brexit fiasco. If ever there was example of a country impoverishing itself this was surely it.
I bought bottles of Beau Site and Desmirail and you hardly need to be told that they are from the St-Estephe and Margaux appellations respectively. Both 2008s, both 17 euros.
Pre-Brexit that was about £12 now it is £15...really lovely low key expressions of traditional claret both of them. At the old exchange rate they were a steal. And I am getting complex truffly aromas on the Desmirail.
We are in a golden era of Bordeaux comrades! I am very bullish on 2008 especially, combining the best of the old fashioned and the new. We are so spoilt for choice.
