A nice medium red color. Nose contains the elegance of Saint-Julien, with red berries, blackberries, light dark chocolate, blackcurrants, light mint, vanilla and green coffee beans. In mouth, a medium body, with grape and blackberry flavors. Oak, vanilla, creamy. Some hummus, and more slightly bitter red berries. Medium length, very classical and not overweight in that vintage. Tn: 91-92.

Thanks for the interesting note, Nic! What can you say about the anticipated maturity?
Re: 2012 Chateau Léoville Barton
Hi Rudy.
I don't have too much experience with Léoville Barton, having sampled only the 1978, 1986 and that 2012.
That 2012 seemed really good to me, and in that medium vintage, the wine is balanced and kinda creamy. I guess that i would drink it over the next 15-18 years. But the 1978, drank in 2012, was still very good.
Hope it helps.

Re: 2012 Chateau Léoville Barton
jean Nicolas Maltais has only drunk 3 vintages of Leoville Barton?
I find that hard to believe.
In fact, I do not believe you.
I think you drank twice as many vintages as that at the estate itself last year alone.

No Jim, i did not tried Léoville Barton often, but yes you're right, add the 2014 barrel sample we tried at the Chateau last year.
But i can't comment on that barrel sample, a too new experience for me.

Leoville-Barton is such a reliable steed isn't it? A stalwart for us lovers of traditional Bordeaux. It is the wine I am back filling on most...latest purchase a case of 2004. Thanks for the note Nic. Seems like it too is a worthy addition to the traditionalists cellar.
