Has anyone tried recent vintages of de Chambrun?

I have happy memories of the lovely 98, 99, 00 Janouiex trilogy but have not tried any recent ones.

It tends to be hard to find, as well as usually priced at the top of the Lalande de Pomerol heap.

So usually it takes a little extra effort to pin down. On the West Coast, Grand Vin and Winex tend to be reliable sources and MacArthurs on the East Coast. But for a variety of reasons, those aren't my primary vendors, as fond as I am of them though.

Anyone here with recent experience - say 2005 vintages onward?

Sorry, no recent experience with de Chambrun - I don't think I have seen it in any of my local stores in recent years. I did enjoy many bottles of the 1998 (very good stuff).

Yes, they make little of it, and it just doesn't seem to have gotten over here much. The folks offering it on futures require a minimum purchase, and that's the reason for my query. I haven't done anything, but its one of the few that I sort of think might be harder to find later.

De Chambrun;

1994-2007 - owned by Jean-Philippe Janoueix - typical Lalande, very much terroir, a bit modern vinification.

From 2007 - Silvio Denz, same owner as Faugeres and Peby Faugeres, same style, lot of extraction and very modern style.

Oi! I didn't know it has been sold. Thanks for that info.

I'm surprised Denz hasn't marched the price up (yet) as he tries to do that it seems like generally.

Doesn't seem like consumers are nibbling with La Tour Blanche's new ambitions though

AKR,

Silvio Denz own Lafaurie Peyraguey, not La Tour Blanche.

fwiw there is some de Chambrun now at WineBid, via their captive import company, Peloton.

These bottles are ex chateau/negociant -- not from an individual's cellar.

Label has changed under the new ownership.

2012 is $25
2008 is $29

Shipping is 1c, IF one buys a minimum amount of qualifying bottles, among a range of other things.

I'm not sure how that precisely works, since I've never done that with them.

But de Chambrun isn't easy to find.

On the West Coast, Winex and Grand Vin are the usual suppliers, and GVWM is a UPS only vendor (grrrr).
