A Pomerol this time...

2000 Ch. Nenin: Cellared since release, perfect cork and fill. Dark red core, lightening at rim. Dark fruits, cedar/tobacco, strong note of iodine on the nose. Full-bodied with dark ripe fruit, good balance, still tannic on the finish. The next day the iodine note is replaced by more dark fruits and the palate feel trends towards lush with a mellowed finish. Excellent.

Nice. I think I have 3-4 of these.

I drank a lot of the 2000 Fugue de Nenin in its youth. They were pretty solid.

Once its big brother got up to the $60-$80 price points I didn't think it made that much sense any more.

The modern ones seem more refined than the ones of yore, but are still a touch less richly fruited than comparables, at least to my tastes.
