2 to avoid

Post by Nicklasss »

A friend of Marie-Claude is visiting us. As she doesn't care too much about wine (she enjoy drinking wine without noticing too much), it was time to try unusual things. Without succes unfortunately.

The Chateau Cambon in Beaujolais produced good value interesting red. Last night, the 2015 rosé, from Gamay, was almost watery. Super light red berries on the nose, not flavors in mouth, only a bit of acidity and flowers. Stick to the reds. Tn: less than 75 (more than half the bottle left, and we were 3 on it).

2014 Pecorino from Romani Unchi : a white we opened with mussels, from an obscure grape called Pecorino. Better than the rosé, but very simple with nose of flowers and light lemon. Mouth is not rich, on grapefruit and herbs, with acidity and light bitterness. Watery too. Tn: 78-79.

A sad evening.

Interesting - I know the cheese pecorino, but had no idea there was a wine with that name!
