They were both excellent and representative of each vintage.
These two La Conseillantes were a real revelation to me, they were the first time I've really come to understand how beautiful these wines are.

I think it was mixed, Nic. Both are great, and it was fun to see the difference. I had a slight preference for the roasted, fruity 1990 over the beautifully structured 1989. Maybe tomorrow I will prefer the 1989.

Right Bank Jim,

I had these two Conseillante from auction 7-8 years back and remember the nose was simply captivating. Beautiful example of Pomerol and have enjoyed a number of vintages over the years likely drinking them before their peak especially 99 on. Our visit in 2015 put things into perspective regarding the neighbours they keep and as far as Pomerols go they are producing some reasonably priced wine being consitantly great quality since 2000. With new wine maker on board will be interesting to see if their run continues.

PS I didn't think Jim considered Pomerol to be REAL Bordeaux though. Glad to see everyone enjoyed these special bottles. Must be the hair weighing down on Jim's thought process !!.

I had the 1990 la Conseillante 5 or 6 times and it is my preferred wine no 3. I read that the 1989 is glorious too, better never had it.

Jim , the 1990 Chateau la Conseillante I brought to Charlotte took some time to open, but I thought it was glorious again.

And Rob, in Texas, you preferred the 1989 or 1990?

Well done all of you that looked like another momentous BWE gathering.

Fwiw I prefer the 90 La Conseillante to the 89, consistently better IMHO last tasted side by side in April.

What a brilliant video! Captures the quintessential spirit and camaraderie of BWE. Jim, Maureen, initially mistook you for James Suckling with your Kurtz Cobain hair do. But she reckons you are much more charming, articulate and alluring than Le Succeur

Ha, I'm sitting here having a glass of wine with a couple lawyers after work in Lewiston, Maine.
I just responded to an email from Rob Dayton from Chatlotte talking about how much he already misses College Station.
It was a REALLY fun time....
I said I wish we all lived near each other and weren't limited to seeing each other only once every one or two or three years.
:(
Give my love to Maureen!

I have found that my best wine experiences have been with a small group of close friends. Thanks for sharing the video. Hope to share a glass someday.

I preferred the 1989 only because it had a flamboyant nose.
But all wines were glorious............

The nose on the 89 was sublime but last time I had 90 it was not far behind.
