Nice tasting last June.

Post by Nicklasss »

Kind of Mini dreamer, before the start of the Summer. Have time to report comments today.

2002 Meursault 1er Clos des Perrières Albert Grivault: this was not the best bottle of that wine, and seemed older than it's age. Gold color, with a nice nose of lemoncello, light butter caramel, white flower, hazelnut, confit orange skin and barley sugar cane. Mouth was medium power, with yellow fruits, mineral and nuts final. Simple mouth. Tn: 88.

2005 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Drouhin: nice cherry red, very young. Dense nose, minerals, musk, cherries, smoke, serious red berries. Ligther in mouth, red berry flavors, cranberries, red currants. Missing some weight in mid palate, but final is ok on flowers, minerals and tannins. Still young i guess. Tn: 89 +.

2009 Tignanello : medium red color. Nose of cherries, oranger pepper, spices, creamy nose, and some red berries. Fleshy, nice attack on prunes, cherries, herbs, with light vegetal pepper and nice tannins. Long and balanced. Very attractive. TN: 92.

2001 Pietradonice Casanova di Neri: cabernet sauvignon from the Brunello di Montalcino area. Dark red. Very nice and complex nose on black cherry jelly, aromatic wood, balsamic vinegar, paprike, dark berries. Mouth is concentrated but with elegance. Rich cherry fruit, complex, incense, coffee beans, blackcurrants flavors. Lots of fine tanins on the final, with a long perfumed finish. Excellent. Tn: 93.

1982 Chateau Lynch Bages: glorious wine. Same red as the Tignanello. Superb nose of vegetals to start, red raisins, minerals, blackberries, tobacco, smoke, licorice, red apple skin and violet flowers. In mouth, this was an excellent bottle. Rich attack, light austerity, old wood, good amplitude. Blackberries, blackcurrants, red berries, but with good acids and a log final on graphite and lead. Tn: 95.

2004 Solaia: this let us down a bit. Medium color, closed nose with purple raisins, red berries, spices and cola. Mouth shows nice richness, paprika, blackberries, cherries, dusty tanins. Excellent but for the price, too simple. Tn: 91.

2011 Dominus: not the greatest vintage. Medium light red color. Confit fruit nose, green pepper, Virginia tobacco, cranberries, charming. Mouth is medium to light, with creamy cabernet fruit, but again some vegetals like green pepper and some black licorice. On it own ok, but compared to the others... TN: 88-89.

2003 Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron: roasted red with very light brown color. Nice nose, ripe, roasted blackcurrant jam, smoke, mint, light vanilla oak. More creamy blackcurrants. Mouth is rich with medium low acidity, soft, coating, blackberries jam flavors, blackcurrants, wood, prunes, light licorice. Good length, light alcohol feeling, ripe tanins, seductive oaky vanilla fruits. Excellent but missing Pauillac breed in that vintage I guess. Tn: 92. Many liked that wine more than me.

It was a very fun night, with a good eclectic selection of wines.

Another Tignanello that I liked. A very interesting wine.

Where are all these 82 Lynch Bages coming from? That always seemed like a hard wine to find
