Chateaux Gaby and Moya are Total Wine staples. Both overpriced IMO.
The '09 Gaby is good, decent QPR when on sale. I didn't care for the one '11 Gaby I had, too much VA.
I have not tried Chateau Moya yet.

It would seem weird for these estates to be purchased by a financial type, and then allow the existing import/distribution arrangement to continue, when its likely that TW is getting the better end of that bargain.

Arv... I do not get your headline. Why are the buyers gauche nouveau riche?

Because I love the way that rolls off the tongue! Try saying it with a slight sneer, curling the lip.

Fresh blood is needed. Alex posted that link from the dude at Lafite to the effect that the Bordelais have been inbred for centuries. Many of the old guard had cross-eyes. Time to engraft some sturdy American stock on it, if I may carry the lumber theme a bit further.

Ironically many of the wines are on American rootstock already.

Interesting and probably a good investment. I wish I could buy one.

On the side, I know some BWEers that would be more interested in buying his wife than his wine. ;-)
