Thanksgiving in Maine Day ONE: 2014 St. Innocent Momtazi

Post by JimHow »

This is a splendid wine, so approachable at such a young age. I'm enjoying this every bit as much as the 2012. Great balance, color, vibrancy, freshness, "purity." Excellent. Received my shipment of 6 bottles yesterday, will order 12 more bottles at $36. Great stuff. 93 points.

Our Turkey-day warmup was a 1998 Clinet. Beautiful wine, showing some beginning tertiary complexity and plenty of fruit, but surprisingly tannic on the back end for an 18-year-old. Excellent now and with even better days ahead.

Yum, good stuff gents.

We've got a '99 Monbousquet open in BWE Mile High, quite exotic and heady, a perfect cocktail wine. I plan on opening a St. Innocent Pinot for turkey day tomorrow.

We'll drink mostly OR PN today. 'Course we must give thanks to our allies with Champagne and perhaps Sauternes.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American friends celebrating today. Enjoy the fruits of your labour with friends and family. We[ve been in Eastern Quebec celebrating Danielle;s birthday this week having more than a few good wines and meals all to wrap up tomorrow night when we hook up with Nic and Marie Claude in Quebec City on our return home for a little BWE fun. Looking forward to it.

Just remember Jim...leave by noon and more than enough time to meet us for dinner!! :D

Bad news: 2012 Fujin was corked! But we had some other good wines that showed well.

We had the 12 St. Innocent Villages Cuvee last night. Very nice, terrific QPR.
