Was bidding on some wines today.

Was able to grab a bunch of 78 Haut Brion for a little over $100 apiece

The 89 Lynch Bages? $250.

Darn you JimHow!

Yes, it's been going for $270-300ish here in US, even more if you buy it in magnum format.
That's still down from the $400ish it was going for a couple years ago...

Geesh, I'd be all over the 78 Haut Brion at $100! I really like that wine. I'd buy a case at that price. Serious score, Tim!

Indeed. I got some good scores at this auction, but the Haut Brion was probably the best. The Lynch Bages was estimated at around $100, but ended up at over $250. I think it was just a low estimate. Funny, I ended up picking up few of the wines that I was going for due to overbidding but bought some serious other ones. I do regret not going higher on the old German Rieslings, but I think I was probably bidding against someone I know (Francois?), so hopefully if so they will bring one to a dinner sometime...

I would buy multiple cases of 1978 at around $100. That is an incredible bargain.

I think the HB will come in at $140 after the buyers premium (based on exchange rate) but still a bargain!

And stefan, gotta credit you with turning me on to the 78 vintage, I didn't have a lot of experience with it until you started talking about it. I will try to get one of the bottles to SF if possible (might be difficult though, still trying to figure out how I will get my wines there given I am going there via Australia).
