It hurts like Hell

Post by Nicklasss »

A 2005 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Vide Bourse from Fernand et Laurent Pillot, and a 2008 Meursault 1er Cru Clos des Perrières from Albert Grivault, completely oxydized. I have been quite lucky with my white Bourgogne but tonight was a horrific one.

I have to admit that my wine storage conditions are not the best, but i never opened 2 bottles premoxed bottles in the same dinner. Sadly, we drank water with our seafood pasta. And my parents were here!

So i'll open all other white Bourgogne i have in the shortest time.

Condolences, Nic. Premoxed Burgs continue to be a major problem.

That's ridiculous.
That's not buying wine, that's sitting at the roulette table.
Unless the prevalence of premox is a figment of the imagination?
Some, especially in Bourgogne (and in certain corridors at HDH and other auction houses, if memory serves) say that, no?

In the last year of I've had oxidized CA chard's and Loire whites too, ages 10 and 20ish or so.

There are few white wines I trust to age in any case - white bdx for a few bottles as its not a main feed stock for the AKR machine, and Savennieres and its ilk. That's about it. CA and blanc Rhones should just be drunk up.

Sorry for your pain, Nic. I stopped buying white Burgs (and white CduP) years ago as I wasn't willing to gamble. Fool me once...

I think I have 1 or 2 bottles of Chablis in the cellar. Thank you for the reminder to drink them up.
