Help identifying a wine

Post by new_username »

I received a wine bottle as a Christmas gift. It has no label or brand name on it. The only thing visible is a crest embossed and apparently it's from Bordeaux.

Hopefully somebody here can help me.

Thanks.

The cork just says "Tradition and Prestige" and has the numbers "4 16 30 04".

You got a wine bottle as a gift with no label?

Is there wine in it?

I've been given things like that before, but only rarely, and usually its from people who got them from winemakers etc, with some explanation.

There are some bottles with embossing which are notable enough that enthusiasts wouldn't need a label to recognize the estate (Pichon Lalande at times, many Rhone AOCs, etc.) but its uncommon.

Unless you have some good reason to believe its very valuable, I'd just drink it.

I had some guests who were coming over today, and knowing I like wine, sent me some pictures of wines they wanted to bring over, from their WSJ Wine Club. Bless their hearts, but I demurred, since I'd already opened up 4 bottles for supper.

4 16 30 04 is a coordinate for somewhere in the Central African Republic. Probably unrelated to the wine question, but a Arv said, drink it.

Tradition and Prestige are the names of Alfred Tesseron's Cognacs, aren't they?
