Bordeaux Wine Enthusiasts

HI BWEers,

We've set up the venues for the Friday and Saturday night events for BWE SF! Both venues are in central SF and easy to walk to or a short ride from most places people will likely stay.

Friday March 24th, the traditional "everything but Bordeaux" evening, will be at Piperade http://www.piperade.com/, which is located at 1015 Battery St, San Francisco, CA 94111. We've had previous BWE events at Piperade and it is a very congenial spot. We will have one half of the restaurant to ourselves. Our max capacity for Friday night is 36 people.

Saturday March 25th, the traditional main event with Bordeaux and more Bordeaux, will be at Town Hall http://townhallsf.com/, which is located at 342 Howard St, San Francisco, CA 94105. We have a private room at Town Hall with a max capacity of 40 people, and will have passed appetizers, multiple main course options including steak, etc.

The all-in cost for Friday night will be $110 per person, and the all-in cost for Saturday night will be $165 per person.

I am acting as treasurer, so please send me your checks for Friday and Saturday night as soon as you can to ensure your seats at the events are reserved. I will be traveling a great deal in February, so I would great appreciate it if people could get me their checks in January.

We are in Ecuador and the Galapagos Stefan. We will be in Israel in May, June and parts of July.

My favorite froggie place - Les Sans Culottes has gone by the wayside. The family that owned the restaurant / building had too much internal fighting and gave up the business, and sold the property.

We'd been going there forever, even my SO's family too, far before my time.

I'll check with my post office tonight. In the past, I remember the delivery time was approximately 2 weeks. Canadian Post lowered their expense in the last years, can the service went down as much?

I have been out of the loop but may be able to swing coming over for the long weekend. Are all events in SF, or are Napa/Sonoma still featuring? Just thinking of logistics.

Looks like all events will be in SF, with a possible daytime excursion to a winery or two in Napa on one day.
Some of us are arriving on Wednesday, others on Thursday, through to Sunday.
The main convention dinner is on Saturday night, with another dinner scheduled by Ed for Friday night that is booking up fast.

It is my buddy Jean-Frédérice who's coming with me. The same guest I had in 2014 in DC. Unfortunately, Marie-Claude couldn't have time off.

6-7 weeks away from the convention, I'll start some thread on wines for this weekend as it looks like filling up nicely. Hope JonathanP will make it, never met him. Same for WilliamP, that I never met, a first time is always cool. I'll be really happy to find back some I did not see in years, like AkR, CabFan.

I think it will be slightly higher. Tim had a +1 on the original list who hasn't paid, and I may be having a friend or two (with strong wine knowledge) join Friday and/or Saturday night. But your general estimates are right.

Maureen is not going to join us and Chris & Werner are unlikely.
