SF Convention: Response from the Omni. SF.

Post by William P »

This is the Omni's response to my inquiry email, I would need to know:
1. interest in the Omni.
2. If Trivago's price is valid.
3. Information to respond to this email that is, your travel schedules.

"Hello William,
Thank you so much for considering the Omni San Francisco Hotel for your upcoming guestroom block needs! We would be pleased to offer a discounted group rate for your 10+ guestroom needs arriving Thursday, March 23 – Monday, March 27th.
Can you please share with me the arrival and departure pattern for your guests? Currently for a four night stay over these dates the best rate to the public is $299. I believe I can secure a great rate for your group in the low $200’s, however I do need to know the group pattern first.
Looking forward to connecting with you more on your group needs!
Best,

Laura

Well done, Bill, although I'm planning on staying Wednesday to Sunday rather than Thursday to Monday.

+1. I fly in Weds, fly out Sunday.

I'd be interested in the Omni if my travel dates can be made to work...

Yes sounds like Omni would work if the rates are good for Wed to Sun.

We can do Thursday to Monday. We will be having a longer stay in San Francisco on Tuesday but can make other arrangements for the rest of our stay.

Friday to Monday for us. But I will be with my buddy from DC 2014, Jean-Frédéric, so need a room with two double beds.

Let me know if that works for the Omni.

Any thoughts/developments on this? Are we still short on numbers for a group rate?

I think we're up for 7 rooms is I count well.

Thanks for the effort Bill. Do we wait a little bit, or make reservation on our own?

Nic, let's wait a little bit more.
The rates for Wed-Sun at Omni are $350 per night right right now.

I guess they rethought their position overnight. Still higher than I got it on Hotwire.

Good Morning William,

I hope you are having a nice day.
Just below I have quoted rates listed for each of the needed reservations. These room rate quotes are all based on a Deluxe category room with a King sized bed. We do have rooms with two double beds, other upgraded room options, and packages that I could present as well if you were interested.

The night of 3/23 - $369+taxes

3/24 – 3/17 - $249+taxes/night
Please let me know if you have any questions at all or would like to move forward with securing the rooms.

Best Wishes

Bills,

I just looked back at hotwire. I think its crazy for this group to look at spending $250+USD +++ a night for a room. I'm happily booked into the Le Meridien for $155/night and the hotel is listed at their site for $350/night. I was unaware that you can request a group rate(and specify hotels/districts) and get quotes from the hotels. I've made this request on behalf of the group today and am awaiting responses from the hotels thru a hotwire coordinator. I've requested 7 rooms but we'll see what happens and I'll keep everyone posted.

Don't include me as I booked the Omni through Hotwire to see the hotel and the rate. I agree that the La Meridien is a great price and a nice hotel. Go for it.

I was surprised how ridiculous the price was.

I don't know what this search will bring. I've asked for 7 rooms as per Nics message above or was that including you William P? Are those numbers correct and how many will need a room for Wednesday as well? Just Jim and patrick or others? I'll update as I get responses over the next day or two.

The 6 others : Jimhow, blanquito, winona rider, stefan, jal and me.

Thanks Danny for trying group rate on Hotwire, I'll wait a little bit more. But I will make reservation this weekend at the latest.

Hotwire Response a little weird but may be helpful. Somehow the hotwire planner allows you to see multple available hotels at their rates prior to receiving a response from the individual hotel. Le Meridien sent me a group rate of $259 +tx but on this hotwire link you can see the lowest King room rate at $216.14 with rooms going upwards. Fixed rates with advance payment but we don't have to block book a group of rooms at the $259 with the group rate and you can chose your own room.

Here is the link to book.

Stefan,

Are you looking from the 22nd or the 23rd? I'm still showing $216.14 for the King room with 8 rooms available at this rate. If I plug in from the 22nd it shows rooms starting at $248 but I'd do 2 separate bookings..23-26 at 216 and 22nd at 248. Let me know if there's a problem and I can contact the hotwire planner assigned to BWE.

From the 23rd, which came from your link. I've done it on two different computers and got $254 both times as the lowest price. Maybe le Meridien likes Canucks more than Yanks.

This hotel thang is getting a bit protracted... I just went to cheaptickets and they want $351/night for the Omni! Not sure how Nic got it so cheaply there (Canadians only?), but it seems that deal has come and gone...
