TN: 2014 Isole e Olena Chianti Classico

Post by JimHow »

This was a real revelation. I think jckba recommended this to me.
I got my stash of 24 mixed Chiantis from MacArthur's.
This wine is youthful and sprite. Light colored. Strawberries and spring flowers.
The acidity and spice matched up beautifully with the small piece of tenderloin tip that I fried up on the pan medium-rare.
Seems I have a couple bottles of a more serious bottling of this in my MacArthur's order but this one hit the spot just nicely.
Rating: 90 points, especially when you factor in the $20-something price.

It might seem strange but Sacramento fine food/wine emporioum Corti Bros. was one of the very early adopters/advocates/importers of that estate way back when. They still have some kind of relationship, and one can pick up Isole e Olena there at generally fair prices.
