TN: 09 d'Agassac [Haut Medoc]

09 d'Agassac [Haut Medoc] 13% abv. a 50/50 blend of CS and merlot, that drinks well over a couple of nights. decanted and aired, and it improves on day 2. haven't had this estate before, and normally am suspicious of any of TW's direct imports, but this is legit. Sort of like a smaller scaled La Lagune, medium bodied and balanced. The tannin, if any, is very well concealed by its harmony. Although I had it with lightly sauteed fish over a couple of nights (seafood and red wine - quelle horreurs!) I think it drank better by itself, since its on the fleshy, low acid side. It closes with a little coffee and cherry notes. I like it, and its a B+ in my ledger. It ought to continue drinking well for a number of years, even though there is no reason to wait. Lots of bang for buck for this, its about the same price as Lanessan, although more glossy in style.

Agassac opened a restaurant last year.
It's a great place to go to, especially in the evening when the medieval château is floodlit.

I like the wine, considering it in a sound, attractive, commercial style.
The price is definitely right.

The Chateau seems like a fairytale castle, like out of Disney set.
