TN: 95 Pichon Lalande [Pauillac], 02 Lascombes [Margaux]

Both of these were decanted, and paired with pork osso bucco and polenta.

95 Pichon Lalande [Pauillac] Excellent balance, rich flavors, great silky mature texture. We had another bottle of this a couple of months ago and this is at the same level. These are drinking great today. Solid A wine.

02 Lascombes [Margaux] This is from the Tom Barack / Colony Capital era I think. There's a little floral bouquet on the nose, but not as much as the usual mature Margaux might have. I got earthy, mint and coffee flavors here. It's modern styled. No hurry on this one. Likely benefited from the decanter. I'd give it a B+

In my experience, the 95 PLL is one of those Left Bankers than gives its 96 version a real run for its money.

I think PL's higher than other Medoc's Merlot allocation is what makes that a more pleasant 1995 than others.

You can bet the ranch on PLL 1995

I give Lascombes a wide berth these days
