The Super Bowl Champion Atlanta Falcons

Post by AlohaArtakaHoundsong »

*Gulp*

I'm having trouble handicapping this most important annual event in Americans' lives. Having first failed to foresee, and then seen, Brexit and Trump, I'm having trouble with my SWOT and other analyses of the big game.

Of course the Patriots, with their approaching near two decades of brilliance, must be considered the entrenched, elite establishment. And they hail from a majority blue/liberal state and region. Clearly those factors dictate a win by the Falcons, who, though not exactly an upstart bunch, do reside in and represent a red state and region (even if Atlanta is not a "disaster" and Rep. John Lewis is indeed a man of action and not just "all talk").

On the the other hand, Tom, Bill and Bob are all FOTs, bigly and big league.

If this were an election, Atlanta would have to be considered the unfavorite favorite. The polls--er the betting line--is clearly fake news. Plus these things come in threes usually.

Please feel free to express your opinion. Please, no hate speech (you know whom I mean). This is a family thread.

As a Jets fan, my second favorite team is whoever is playing the Patriots.
Go Falcons!

I'm for the Falcons, for that SuperBowl 51. I have a dinner party at a colleague's place to watch the game. I'll bring some chicken wings crispy chinese style.

You must be aware that, supposedly, Putin has Bob Kraft's ring from SB 45 (or whichever) and the story goes Kraft didn't give it to him.

For years Buffalo style chicken wings have been my go to for halftime of Patriots Super Bowl appearances of AFC Championship games.

I'm expecting a tough game, Hound, although Tom Brady usually does well against lesser defenses.
I'm already getting nerved up! This would be a big one. Just one more.

I will say, though, of all the teams that made the playoffs, if we were going to lose to any of them, I would like to see the Falcons win.

I've lost a lot of respect for Bob Kraft for numerous reasons, CV, including his support for Trump, over the past couple years.
I'll never forgive him for giving up the fight against the gangster Goodell. Kraft betrayed us.

As for Brady, he's just a jock. His flirtations with the GOP are just weird to me, because I have no doubt he is left of center rather than to the right. It's almost like he's trying to be another Jack Kemp. Is it so impossible to imagine a right-of-center northern Californian Tom Brady running for the U.S. Senate in about eight years?
I'm a little surprised that his wife, who I've always thought of as more progressive and green, lets him buddy up with clowns like Trump.
Belichick and Brady are gods in this neck of the woods, not a lot of angst over their friendships with Trump.
They are actually on good terms with John Kerry and other liberals as well.
