Light Boosting your expectations for BWE 2017

Most of the attendants to BWE 2017 know me. I met most of you more than 3 times, at BWE dinners, or offlines at your place or elsewhere. You have always been very nice and generous to me. And I always feel that I deserve to send "the elevator back" one day sooner than later, as we don't know what tomorrow Will bring to us.

I know that none of you are waiting something special from me, as your cellars are more complete than mine. But let say I would like to bring a special bottle for you, to enjoy especially with you, give a hint of what I can look for.

Trying to boost the event.

And the 1993 Chateau Batailley is not allowed.

Ha ha, well played Nic! A few years ago I tried to find a few bottles of 1993 Batailley to serve blind as a gag at one of the BWE Conventions. I located some in London but it would have cost something like $400-500/bottle, a bit steep but the epitome of "Bore-dough."

Custom & Border Patrol will subject your bottle to new extreme vetting procedures.

So what the people attending SF 2017 would like to sample?

Older vintages (pre-80's)?
Wines we don't see often in our convention?
The classics (89 Lynch, 89 Baron, Cordier from the 80's).
Glorious Bordeaux (82's)?
The great younger Bordeaux (95-96-00)?
Unexpected jewel (88-91 Rating by Parker, but are probably more 91-94 for BWEers palate)?
Others?

Always thinking about other people, Nic; thanks. You always bring interesting and good wines. I'll follow your lead on this.

As you requested, I will bring some St. Innocent PN for Friday dinner (or Friday lunch or afternoon tasting, if PN does not work with the dinner).

I'll probably bring my last 1982 Canon in honor of HM$ because he loved that wine the last time we had a BWE convention in CA. I want to bring a 1990 Filhot Creme de Tete in honor of Ed Baum, but I checked and found that I do not have one despite what my e-inventory says.

Thanks stefan for the SI. I'll be happy to sample that wine.

I'll buy some at K&L to enjoy Sunday night.

Well if Bill is thinking about a 1982 Canon, and I'm bring an '82 Grand Puy Lacoste, that's the start of an '82 horizontal. I'll have to think about Friday. I'm looking forward to meeting you Nick and seeing old friends.

I have a 1982 La Dominique to add to the 1982 mix.

Hmmm, how about an 82 Beychevelle to add to the fun?

At a wine dinner last night, we drank had the 1982 La Dominique. It was out of magnum, and it was really good. I think a 750 would still be quite nice.

That's a nice theme: 1982 Bdx that are not first growths. There are so many great ones...

We had a 82 Gloria the other night at a beach bonfire that was a complete Bordeaux powerhouse experience. On that night, at that place, it had nothing to envy of any other 82. Great theme...wish I could make it.

I think that is a great idea for one of the themes for Saturday Night.
