This is a great Margaux, that 2002 Malescot. The 2004 is excellent too. A really good Chateau.

Enjoy Jim.

This wine is absolutely stunning.
I'm being totally serious here:
How did we not buy every single one of those 2002s that afternoon at MacArthur's?
I'm telling you guys right now, and I am COMPLETELY serious, 2002L is one of the greatest vintages since at least '82, if not '61.
I could care less what the "experts" <rolls eyes> say.

Love to hear this, as i have several bottles of the 2002 Malescot, and i've only had one so far ( a few years ago)
I also have an untouched case of the 2005 Malescot, which is supposedly even better!

This is a stunning Margaux that matches modern with traditional. It really also comes together in 2002, that epic vintage on the left bank. It is still youthful, although a little more evolved, not surprisingly, than the 2004. I think this wine exceeds the modern-styled 2004 in quality. This wine is VERY aromatic. 94+ points.

I think I have one of these. That or the 2004. Good to read.

It reminded me of that 2002 Haut Bailly we had at my house, Hound, except different.

I've had a few more of the Haut Bailly and as it's matured it seems less ethereal than on release, a bit more classically styled, but of course not in the vein of a blockbuster or some backward stern thing that needs eons.

We had an 02 Lascombes a few weeks ago - it didn't seem very Margaux like.

But definitely a heck of a price on the 02 MsE

I purchased 3 bottle of 2002 alter ego....a beautiful wine early on....I popped them a couple weeks back and unfortunately they showed very poorly
....I had to pour 1 down the sink. The bottles looked pristine, but were stored at around 70 degrees since release...apparently not the right formula for Alter Ego longevity...only one bottle was in shape enough to consume....$150 for the 3, so it didn't kill me, just displeased.

The Malescot sounds wonderful...u guys made out like bandits.....2017 BWE WOTY????.....redemption for the Barde Haut!! Lol, JK
