04 Tirecul la Graviere [Monbazillac] This is a Sauternes like wine from the Bergerac that would appeal to those who like Bordeaux's dessert wines. It's 12.5%, served very cold, recently acquired but bottle seemed fine. Very honeyed and thick, like 1990 or 2003 style Sauternes, dark gold in color. Has a beeswax, apricot kind of nose, long almost overly sweet finish. I'd heard of the wines before, since they are regarded as the best from this region, but had not ever seen one. They are indeed really good, although I think they are a little light on the acid, compared to their more famous Bordeaux analogs. Four of us drank the whole bottle up in an hour. I'd give it an A- -- and will keep an eye open for them.
