Seeking wine carrier recommendations.

Post by JimHow »

I ask this every couple years or so and end up not getting one.

Stefan et al, can you remind me of your wine carrier brand that you use again?

I just check wine on my flight. What do you have in mind, Jim?

I usually wrap my bottles in bubble wrap and stick them in my suitcase with my clothes, was looking for different options.

You no doubt know this drill, but I get a saved styrofoam wine shipper, reinforce the tape on it well, and check up 2 separate 12-pack boxes once or twice a year. Never had an issue since 2006.

Or buy one of these so your box is treated as regular luggage (cardboard boxes are viewed as second class luggage by airlines I'm told): http://www.iwawine.com/the-wine-check-b ... wAod254Ohw

The Wine Check Patrick mentions is an inexpensive and efficient solution. It wraps around a 12-bottle styro shipper and has wheels and a pull handle.

More ergonomic, more sturdy, and much more expensive are Stefan's carrier (I don't recall the brand) and the Wine Cruzer, which I own: http://www.winecruzer.com

Thanks for the recommendations, I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get a carrier.

I bought a Winecheck during Berserkerday this year,
but it will be a while before I need to use it. :(

I have both a Wine Check and a Wine Cruzer. Like them both. I use the Wine Check when I need to carry more than 6 bottles. The Wine Cruzer model I have can fit a Champagne bottle and a magnum but maxes out at 6 bottles total.

I use the Wine Check, Jim. I also have a 7 bottle Wine Kaddy to use when I need few bottles or more than 12. It is less cumbersome than the Wine Check.
