Thinking of R Dayton

Post by Nicklasss »

He's a fan of Chateau Pavie Macquin, if I remember well. So pork chops and the 2006 Premier Cru Classé B...

Looks good Nic. PM was an unknown for me until our BWE visit in 2005. Now I have a good supply of multiple vintages from 2004 through 2009. Haven't tried the 06 yet. Looking forward to San Fran as well which will begin a 2 week California tour.

We'll miss the Daytons at BWE.

Lucie and I are warming up tonight with
05 Paul Goerg Brut
04 Leoville Barton
00 Calon Segur
07 Lafaurie-Peyraguey

The French couple who are coming for dinner are light drinkers, so there should be enough for Lucie.

Yes, we'll miss the Dayton.

I can't wait to see you all, at the other side of the continent. We'll have fun Dstgolf and stefan.

Stefan, let us know how the 00 Calon perform tonight. I remember at a pre dinner BwE blind tasting, it did not well.

And I think Rob would like that 2006 Chateau Pavie Macquin, as you will like it Danny.

Let me say that i have to believe people that think that Bordeaux has changed something to make the wine better younger. At 10 years old, this is drinking very nicely. Nose of rasberries, grape, spices, some minerals, concentrated nose, very ripe red berries. In mouth, excellent balance, spices, crushed rasberries flavors. Light leather, light tannins, good acids, mix of cranberries and blackcurrants finish. Not so long but so seductive and balanced, how not to liked? Tn: 91-92.

My first satisfying 2006.

We will drink a toast to the Daytons and all BWEers who have helped to make this site so great for the past 17 years, who cannot join us but who will be there in spirit!

The 2000 Calon Segur was appreciated by all, Nic. The 04 Leoville Barton was better. The Calon Segur was surprisingly soft for a St Estephe. It went very well with a cheese soufflé over field greens as a first course. It was also OK with flat iron, but the L-B really shone with it.
