Another epic, rowdy, Friday night dinner.
Thanks Ed and Lisa for setting it up in such a great venue.

One thing I like about the Northern Hemisphere is that the pictures, when posted, all come out rightside up.

Here's the list of 20 wines that I tasted last night and some quick scores IMHO. Although I scored the two Amarones highly, these were not wines for food as they were too concentrated. Better on a balcony overlooking a scenic countryside, maybe with some cheese and bread. There were many other great wines last night, and I heard the Insignia (1991?) was very good. My food was yummy and the room perfect for our group. Thanks to Lisa (SF Ed's better half) for organizing it all!

2010 Dal Forno Romano - Amarone – 96
2004 Dal Forno Romano - Amarone – 95
2001 Foley Claret – 95
1971 Barolo Barisone – 95
2002 Quilceda Creek – Cabernet Sauvignon – 94
1992 Dominus - Cabernet Sauvignon – 94
2010 Noble One De Bortoli – 93
2014 – SC Pannell Koomilya – Shiraz – 93
1988 Rayas – 93
2003 Dunn Howell - Cabernet Sauvignon – 92
2002 Peter Michael Les Pavots - Cabernet Sauvignon – 92
1990 Filhot Crème Tete – 92
2001 Dalle Valle - Cabernet Sauvignon – 91
1965 Charles Krug - Cabernet Sauvignon – 91
2010 Protos – Duero - 91
1991 Dunn Howell - Cabernet Sauvignon – 90
1986 Fargues – 89
1947 Banyuls – 88
1993 Philip Togni - Cabernet Sauvignon – 88
2013 Kingsfield - Pinot Rose – 85

What a fun evening!

I can never come close to tasting everything, but one wine that stood out for me was the 2005 Clos des Lambrays. It was fantastic now and should be transcendent in future.

I just don't get Cal Cab - it ages but for me doesn't improve. Lots of amazing Cal Cabs last night but definitely not my thing.

Looking forward to tonight!

I did not took any notes last night, to happy to see people I did not saw in a long time. Always fun and I even showed to Michael-P, SF Ed and Cabfan, some notes I took in 2003 on a dinner at Michael-P's place, in their company!

For the wines, hard to sample everything but in my list the top wines:

2010 Romano Del Forno Amarone
2005 Clos des Lambrays

The wow wines:
1991 Insignia
1992 Dominus
1998 Chateau Rayas

The super wines:
1992 Dunn Howell mountains
2002 Peter Michael Les Pavots

The special mention wines:
2002 Quilceda creek cab (need a bit more time, but really different than other cab)
1998 Chapoutier Sizeranne (that basic Hermitage from Chapoutier, delivers the goods after almost 20 years? Chapeau!)

Unfortunately, my 2005 Meo-Camuzet Vosne smelled and taste sulphur, my 1986 de Fargues was having a nice bouquet but a vendanges tardives soft mouth, my 1992 Dalla Valle was ok but not great enough for the competition in attendance.
