It promises to be an excellent year and Cos held their release price steady.

Encouraging, but not quite worthy of high praise considering the baseline and how much prices went up last year. It still feels like the owners have taken the financial incentive out of buying futures. Of course only time will tell and if I were younger I'd be picking and choosing and poring over the offers as they come out.

You are right, $160ish for a 100-point Cos doesn't sound outlandish.

Jeanfred, I'll be happy to help you drink your "decent priced" 2016 Bordeaux. Last time we had deçent prices in Québec, was for the 1995 vintage... I'm not sure I will bite that much for the 2016.

Cos (and Tour St. Christophe or whatever it is called) did well to jump to the forefront in 2016.

Nic,

2000 SAQ prices for the futures release were the cheapest in the world!!...amazing but true! My buddy bought cases of first growths and going for under $200/bottle he's made out like a bandit reselling them for more than the wine he's kept back by far. With the Canadian dollar in the tank and falling I don't expect any bargains for the 2016 release on this side of the border. It will however be very favourable for Americans that want to travel up north this year with the exchange at near %40 right now everything will seem cheap. We need to come up with a visit to Ottawa date for the Summer so we can cast that net and get some visitors for an offline as planned.

Danny, you probably mean 1995, not 2000. And personnally, I would be very ok having the lowest prices in the World for the 2016 vintage! Unfortunately, Québec has made of wine the same thing as lottery: a voluntary tax!

And yes, we should look for a date to do an offline up in Canada, Québec city, Montréal or Ottawa, if there is still interest from BWEers. As a first idea, I was thinking about Labour Day weekend, with still nice weather, 3 days break, and plenty of time to find some venues.

Exactly

The first growth was 395$ on 2000, Palmer 199$, Cos 139$,...
275$ on 2001
225$ on 2002

Agree that a offline would be great

Nic

By "decent" price, I mean equal to 2015 or 10% lower

1995, you can always dream!

Nic,

Labour Day weekend a no go for me. Club championship weekend at the club and not even BWE can drag me away from that. My tournament schedule through the summer really limits my weekend freedom.Any weekend in July or first in August are currently workable for me. Rest of August through Labour Day weekend no good.
