Looking at these wines like the 94-95 point Cantemerle coming in at $32ish, plenty of other similar examples like that.
Seems reasonable to me. Thoughts?

I'm 58. I'll be 70-72ish in 12-14 years, when these wines are 13-15 years old, right in my wheelhouse.
I see no reason why I should refrain from buying the 2016 vintage, especially if prices are reasonable.

I think that for the most part, I tend to agree. Just looking at 2010 as a reasonable benchmark, when you can pick up certain wines like Cantemerle for a 30%+ discount relative to what 2009/2010 go for, that seems about right and worthwhile to consider as a futures purchase, imo. Cos initial release pricing seemed very reasonable at a healthy discount to their 2010 on the secondary market, but now I see many marking up subsequent tranches by $10-20/btl post NM's score, so glad I bit early there. In my view, it's been somewhat of a mixed bag....+5-10% range on average versus 2015 release pricing, and for some, "quality adjusted" (critic scoring), pricing does seem quite reasonable...

What do you think about $155 for that 2016 Cos (98-100WA), JimS.
Buy or no buy?

I'm going to buy at least a couple bottles of Cos at that price.
I like Cos, and Cos in great years I REALLY like.

I'll buy some 2016 too. Not Cos, but some other.
But Jim, you're right, this is your new 1996 vintage, that you'll have fun with in 2030.
I think everyone should buy something from 2016, like from all other vintages.

Jim, I'd still be a buyer at $155. When Cos is on, it's on, and it's up there with some of my favorite wine experiences. Given the nature of the vintage, I could see this as going down as one of their better if not best vintages.

Re: Seems to me 2016 is coming out priced fairly rationally.
I personally think 2016 is neither reasonably priced nor exorbitantly priced. I feel they are priced in between those. $150 plus for cos is high for me. I would have said reasonable if it were 12 to 15 bucks or so lower. Remember, dollar is stronger and still 150 plus? It's like they are charging 170 or so vis a vis few years back!!!
Re: Seems to me 2016 is coming out priced fairly rationally.
I'm not really convinced 2010 is a benchmark for pricing. I think a lot of the wines are still sitting somewhere in the supply chain. I get way too many emails offering 50 cases or what not that are claimed as ex chateau. I think there is a supply overhang, which makes me suspicious of pricing.
At the end of the day, even if takes a long time, the wines pricing ends up converging with what people are going to pay to drink them.
2015 seems ok with pricing, but that is likely more a function of strong dollars.
