2012 Chateau Picourneau

Post by Nicklasss »

A nice and medium body Haut-Médoc. I guess the 2012 vintage is keeping it medium body, but still having a great intense red color, with a nose of light blackcurrants, blackberries, soft spices, grape amd some noble wood. In mouth, dark or blackberries, medium body, but long with some dates (the merlot?) and austerity. Light oak, good acidity, a nice example of a medium vintage 65 % cabernet sauvignon Haut-Médoc wine. Decent long spicy wood finish. Very good wine. Tn: 88.

5-6 km away from Lafite and Lafon Rochet. I can feel it in the dark black berry character.

Completely satisfying for the price, compared to all California Cab sauvignon from last week. :o

Nic,

Please give us an idea of current prices for such wines in Québec (let's say the Picourneau and a mid-range Cali Cabernet).

Hi Alex.

19,40 $cad for Picourneau, 24,15 $cad for Frei Brothers Ca Sauvignon or 36,10 $cad for Bringer Knights Valley.

No contest, the Haut-Médoc is better.
