2010 Chateau Blaignan

Post by Nicklasss »

A Médoc Cru Bourgeois, from that northern part of our favofite peninsula. Dark red, with roasted red pepper, paprika, blakberries, black prunes, blackcurrants aromas. In mouth, rich, with chocolate, pruney, with some sweet spicy roasted oak flavors. A bit spirity alcohol on the final, with a decent final on oak and again these roasted pepper. A good wine but I preferred the 2012 Chateau Picourneau from yesterday. The Blaignan seemed a bit pushed to me. Tn: 85-86. I preferred the 2009 version, to my own surprise.

Seems like we're started for a Bordeaux weekend.

It's 100F here so too hot for fine wine. I came home to find a nice proper salted margarita waiting for me.

I will have some chilled Arrowood Late Harvest Riesling with fresh pineapple tonight though.

Thanks for the notes on this. I've seen it around periodically but do not think I've ever had one.

FWIW, she preferred the Blaignan and I preferred the Picourneau. Matter of taste.
