2014 Crognolo
2014 Crognolo
A Supertuscan that doesn't hurt the pocketbook and strikes on on fronts. 90% Sangiovese 10% merlot makes this wine smooth and delicious with the right amount of acidity to pair well with red sauce. Balanced with nice dark cherry and blueberry fruit with background slice makes this very quaffable but sophisticated enough to fool the crowd into believing this is much more expensive than it is at $27.88 can in Quebec makes this a fantastic work and worth sealing out if you haven't had it. Always reliable and strikes well above its price point.

I've had this in a couple of vintages and that's a good price even in USD.

Re: 2014 Crognolo
My favorite local liquor store has this @ $24.99 according to Wine-Searcher.
I like Sangiovese based Supertuscans so I'll undoubtedly pick up a bottle or two next time I stop in.

I had the 2011 of this last month, it was 'ok'.
Re: 2014 Crognolo
I've had and sold prior vintages of this wine and would agree that it is good but sans plus. Your Canadian price seems in line with USD pricing so I am curious if this is an anomaly or not. And I for one, would rather spend double in order to get its older sibling the Oreno via the grey market as through the authorized importers, it would be at least 3X the price of the Crognolo.

It doesn't taste particularly like Sangiovese to me, a note from last month
