Happy July 4th from Maine, USA!

Post by JimHow »

We are having lobster on the back deck.
Sipping on a 2014 St. Innocent Momtazi.
The weather is perfect, mid-70s, no humidity.
Everything is in bloom, so fragrant.
This is my favorite time of year.
Even the Maine state government is back up and running, we court appointed lawyers are gonna get paid this week for the first time in two months.
The soft shell lobster is so, so sweet, the shell almost literally crumbles in your hand.
OMG, this lobster tail... Is there a god?
The lobster -- and David Foster Wallace -- would probably dissent.
Lighting a few of the legendary M-60 firecrackers, we'll hear the municipal fireworks off in the distance down by the river later this evening.
Oh, and un pie de la whoopie in the waiting....

Happy July 4th to BWEers around the world from the United States!

Happy 4th of July to my friends of the USA. Sometime a weird country but as I can confirm, still having a majority of good people in it!

The wine has been the first step to meet you all, but in many convention and off-lines together, I met some of you often and appreciate greatly your friendship, opening, and humility.

USA is a great country, sometime hard to follow, but a very special great country.

Having a glass of the very nice 2014 Chateau le Puy right now, so I toast to you all!

As good as it gets bro!
Got tix in the bleachers to games against the Cards, Toronto, and White Sox in July and August with the old law school buds.
Ah, summer in New England. Heaven!

Lucie and I hope everyone had a good fourth. We celebrate in and by our pool with two families. We drank only 'murican wines--Coffaro and Ridge Zins, CA Cab, and an '09 St Innocent Special Selection PN that has a name appropriate for the day--plus, of course, some from the ally that helped us beat the bloody Brits (Jacques Copinet Brut and 2005 Coutet). It was a very nice afternoon and evening.

It was good, I think, but I was pretty much under the table when I drank it. There is some left. I will drink that tonight and say something further if I am above the table.

Arv, The 2005 Coutet is very minerally, quite sweet for a Barsac, with good persimmon and kumquat flavors. It has good staying power as well. I see that it is still available for under $40.

Sauternes is so underpriced that I am thinking about using Sauternes as my steak wine. I note that Jim drinks red with lobster. Why, when great Sauternes is so cheap and pairs so well with that wonderful crustacean?
