Black Hills Nota Bene from Okanagan, B.C., Canada
Black Hills Nota Bene from Okanagan, B.C., Canada
Not a Bordeaux but still a Bordeaux blend. This is considered as one of the few cult wines crom Canada. I am offered to buy either 2014 and 2015 vintage for $66 Cdn. Is it worth it's hype? Which vintage if better yet?

Frederico,
Welcome. Nota Bene has been one of the most consitent reds produced in the Okanogan since its first vintage in 1999. they've come a long way since the quonset hut set up they had with winemaker Senka Tennat who has since moved on. They've bought property and modernized. I had the opportunity to be an investor years back but maybe made a mistake by not partnering up since the success they've had. Even with new wine maker they continue to produce a very good $30-40 wine but when they went north of $50 I didn't feel the QPR was still there. In my mind there are better and cheaper bottles from Bordeaux,Spain and if you are a New World lover Argentina and Chile produce some pretty darn good value wines at similar to better quality. Nevertheless if you haven't had Nota Bene it's certainly worth trying and since both vintages were successful from reports why not compare both. I'm sure that you won't be disappointed in anything but the cost.

Thank you dstgolf for your comments. I may get one bottle to try. Yes, I think there are at least similar quality reds out there at that price. At Costco, Concha y Toro Don Melchor is about $70 Cdn. A nice 2015 Chateauneuf-du-Pape is also at same price point.

2015 CNDPs are $70 up there? crazy
