2012 Chateau Bard-Haut

Post by Gerry M. »

Made a simple steak salad for dinner since the wife had a night shift at the hospital tonight and had the itch to open something up to go with it. My wine is all temporarily upstairs since my basement is under construction and wine cellar is finally going to be climate controlled. First bottle I grabbed was a 2012 Chateau Bard-Haut. I opened it up just as I started prepping the salad. It needed only about 90 minutes to really start opening up. Very bright on the nose, not overly extracted and the tannins and oak are not overbearing. This is incredibly enjoyable now with a relatively short decant. At $31 a bottle this was a serious value and need to see if I can still get any at near that price wishing I had bought more. It's just a beautifully well balanced, food friendly wine that will drink well for the 10 to 20 years. Bravo!
