How was the Sunshine State?

Here too it is incredibly cold. "Only" -4 F at the moment, "feel" -25 F. Global warming?

South Beach and Key West were great, now I'm planning on hitting the Gulf Coast of Florida in February.

The 2012 Haut Bergey is in an awkward state... what was I thinking, it is not within the 18-month-3 year / 8-20 year window. It was sour and acerbic but nonetheless you can extrapolate that this will be a lovely wine once it comes out of its cocoon. I enjoyed it. 89 points now, but projected 92 or more after 8 years.

The 2005 Haut Bergey was atypically austere on release. I thought it bade or boded well perhaps. I had a similarly disappointing succession with the 2001. I don't think this is one for aging.

Jim, I am a daily reader who has only posted a few times. I live in the Destin area in the panhandle of Florida. If your trip brings you this far north then I would love to host you for dinner with a few other wine friends. By the by, I am also a musician/vintage guitar collector....seems we have another mutual interest. Spike

Lucie, a Graves lover, really, really disliked the 2010 Haut-Bergey. I expect it to get better when the oak becomes tamer, but will it even become a good representative for Pessac-Leognan?

In contrast, the 2005 was a very nice and typical wine that drank well at age eight. I need to dig the rest of mine out; not sure where they are. My computer says that I have five more bottles.

Spike, I don't think I'll be that far north this time around but I've been spending chunks of the winter months in warmer climes and we'll have to do it in the next winter or two.
