A Chassagne in Loire

Post by Nicklasss »

In the last week, a guy has been enjoying great 2015, some Northern Rhône and Lafite, others a debate between 1982, 1966, 1959 First Growth, other 89 Lynch Bages or superb blanc from Chablis or Bourgogne... and on, and on, and 2015 Kirkland Pauillac.

All that fancy encounter of the third type wine, can look undecent to some, unaccessible to others, but clearly a fun read when it is on BWE. If you're a lurker, or here for the first time, I encourage you to participate here, and arrange to meet BWEers, as even me, I have my good days!

But tonight, i thought i would be a looser, opening Muscadet with my lime and pepper chips salmon tartare, but the only looser is the one who feels like a loser. I opened a bottle i was so impatient to open, the 2009 Château-Thébaud Clos des Tabardières, a Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, from theMelon de Bourgogne grape. But but but, This was a stupendous dry white wine. Light yellow color, nose of flower, ripe yellow fruit, minerals, pollen, sea shell and sweet lemongrass. In mouth, rich, elegant, lot of minerality but also some honey, starfruit and green pears flavors. Medium weight, with a real aura, finish of gun powder green grape with acidity. A very nice wine. Well, we can't win all the time, when we go on Mars. Tn: 91-92.

no, if you are new to BWE, keep away from the guy who talks funny from Quebec, he is bad news, even on his good days.

And the founder of BWE, even worst. I'm still missing the pre 2000 WS board, and Mr. Suckling. Ah well!

Nic,
If it wasn't for you I wouldn't even know these wines existed.
I don't experiment with white wines, so your notes are an adventure to read.

When I say I don't experiment with white wine, what I mean is I only drink Napa Valley Sauv Blanc and white Bordeaux.

C'mon Jim. Nic's OK. As long as you keep him away from too much late night Bordeaux and whoopie pie!

And Nic we can always count on hou for a wide range of tasting notes.
