Which wine with soft lamb curry

Post by Nicklasss »

JeanFred is coming for dinner tonight. What would be your wine recommended with a soft lamb curry? No coconut milk in the recipe.

Thanks,

Nic

I’d probably go northern Rhône or CdP before Bdx but if spicier, I could see myself moving towards a white in some sort of Riesling ...

Nic,

My preference with curry is Chateau Coors-Lite! I've given up trying to match wine with Indian or Asian cuisine. I far prefer beer.

I like a racy German Riesling Spatlese with moderately spicy Asian food. If it's extra spicy, beer works best for me.

I'm with Danny, yes to beer, but pale ale rather than lager

I don't drink beer anymore. I 've got tire of it.

I'll be like JimHow with fish or seafood on that one, and stick to red wine anyway. And it is lamb after all. I'll go with either northern Rhône, CdP, Pomerol or Tempranillo.

Worst case, we'll drink less during the meal and enjoy the wine after.

Gotta agree with the above.

Indian pale ale is my choice. Maybe a young CdP that has sweet Grenache fruit would work.

Nic,

When did the turn around epiphany happen? In Bordeaux when Jim ordered red in that seafood restaurant you thought that it was sacrilege and carried on with white while we enjoyed that beautiful Magrez la Tour Carnet.

"That beautiful Magrez la Tour Carnet".

All, what did you thought about the wines you had last year at the 2017 BWE convention, or lately with sdr in FL, if in Bordeaux it was a "That beautiful Magrez la Tour Carnet" matched with seafood?

Soft lamb curry, and beer? Without coconut milk, or extra extra spicy? Come on, red wine is a better match than many other things.

We went with Hermitage, and it was a great match.

Indeed, Nicola, fine French wine, especially Bordeaux, goes with just about anything.
As I’ve said here before, one of my top ten wine experiences was an amazingly fresh seafood dinner back in April 2004 in a tiny village overlooking the sunset on the Pacific coast of the Baja... with a 2000 Leoville Barton.
Like you, I have grown tired of beer. I don’t hate it, I just have a couple of Bud Lights when I go out with my fellow lawyer buddies once a week.

Bud Light, like Miller Lite, is NOT beer. It is a substitute for water for when you mow the grass.

I get the same grief when I go out with my lawyer buddies, as they order their ales and micro brews and whatever else is the latest fad.
I don't know how they can drink that swill.
Hey, Barack Obama and I drink Bud Light. If it is good enough for Barack, it is good enough for me.

I like Cotes du Rhone with some Indian cuisine. Might work with a rich though not hot (spicey) dish like that.
