2015 Cantemerle - Yum!

Post by Racer Chris »

I just opened my third half bottle to drink with a couple slices of pizza I brought home tonight.
This is Excellent right now. No need for a lengthy decant. It opens up nicely in the glass.
Medium-full bodied, rich on the palate.
Dry, with smooth tannins and balanced acidity.
Dusty black cherry with a nice cassis bite on the back end.
I need to get some full bottles of this for the cellar.

Thanks for this note. I've gotten notice that mine have arrived, but I doubt I'll get them shipped in until Fall. Assuming I can still get shipped to.

And-good move on the half bottles-I love those things!

Thanks - I'm excited to open quite a few 2015 splits this Fall as everything trickles in to get a better read on the vintage. Great to hear re Cantemerle. I've given this estate a much stronger look post their 2010 vintage, which I thought was a stand out effort.

Sounds like my kinda wine. I would bet that Cantemerle would excel in a year like 2015.

Just an FYI Patrick-while not the best price in the country, it looks like Applejack has the '15 Cantemerle in stock....

I've managed to get my 375s locally for $18, and I'm getting ready to buy some 750s at (hopefully) less than $35.

I got to try the '15 a few nights ago-spot on with Chris's note. I've had a '14 downstairs, and opened it tonight. Very similar material, but the '14 had a bit less of everything. A bit less dense, a bit less dusty cherry, a bit less structure, a little more dilute. A nice wine, but if you can find the '15 at a similar price, go with the '15. The '14 isn't bad by any stretch, a great value...the '15 just has more.

I think I'll open a 375 tonight.
Gonna need another case of these pretty soon.
