2005 Bahans Haut Brion uncorked

Post by jckba »

So with all the recent chatter regarding 2005 Bdx and where it sits in the pantheon of great Bdx vintages, I figured now was as good a time as any to pop one. After a little back and forth with myself regarding what to open, I eventually decided on the 2005 Bahans Haut Brion which I bought for $54.75/btl.

Decanted for an hour indoors and this starts off with a ripe dark blackberry, cedar and tobacco driven nose that leads way to a rounded, velvety, medium bodied palate showcasing a similar flavor profile but with a slightly drying finish. While enjoyable now, I think I’ll let my remaining bottles sleep for a little while longer. 91+

Thanks for the note, I bought a case of this myself, opened one bottle, letting the rest sit. I don't recall when I drank the bottle although I do remember it was quite young still.

I haven't had many vintages of that but it seems like they keep very well, far more than one would expect.

It's been 5-6 years but a still harbor deep love for a
'01 Bahans Haut Brion... classic and incredibly charming.

Thanks for the note, JC... I have couple of 05 BHB...

Allary Haut Brion is right next to HB and HB purchased it couple of years ago. If I am not mistaken, going forward, it's fruit will be used to make BHB in the near term before HB absorbs Allary into HB
