Too soon to get a solid head count I’m sure, but it would be helpful to get a general sense of the plan. Right now I’m assuming everyone is in for Friday and Saturday.

If you think you’d also be interested in a Thursday dinner or even a Wednesday dinner too, please chime when you know. Plus we might have some preliminaries in the mountains (mostly) to ski the weekend prior or perhaps the Monday-Tuesday that week.

For those who might want to bring a party size format to this, K&L just gone in a wave of older 3L and 6L's yesterday.

https://www.klwines.com/Products/r?r=57 ... =8&z=False

That 1970 double mag of Rauzan Segla at $350ish looks interesting.

There was an older La Tour Haut Brion in fun size up there yesterday too, but it looks like it was scooped up overnight.

That 75 l'Eglise Clinet in big size that was at the recent SF one was a good BWE shindig kind of wine.

By many metrics, Colorado is the USA’s healthiest state as well as it’s “highest”. So the (air) pressure is particularly low. Nic, come chill with some of the world’s finest people and wines, all with views of snowcapped mountains over 4400 meters tall.

I have a couple of magnums (nothing older than 1980) in the cellar I'm considering for Friday and Saturday.

They say don't trust anyone over 30.
People lose their youthful idealism.
Wines start suffering cork failure and bottle variation.
I'm long past that milestone. More curmudgeonly than idealistic.
Hoping my cork stays intact a while longer.
My wines are starting to get there.
The 1989s will be turning 30.

Last year's theme was 1998s at 20.
This year, how about 1989s at 30?
Maybe a bit old for a "theme" that everyone can contribute to.
But I've got a few 1989s in the cellar, maybe even a magnum or two.

Big flight of 89s on Saturday? We can start a list. I’ve got a half dozen of classified 89s to choose from: Pichon Lalande, Leoville Poyferre, Canon, Certan de May, Trotanoy, Gruaud Larose.

A 1989 theme for the Saturday night dinner sounds like a natural.
Of course, as always, attendees can bring wines from other vintages as well.

1989 Yquem (had it with AlexR, just glorious), 1989 Angélus, 1989 Lynch Bages...

I feel more pressure than ever, from the elevated low pressure city in Colorado.

Put me down for trying to make my first gathering. Realistically, I see myself coming in Friday, maybe Thursday. I have a pretty deep horizontal of 89', being my anniversary year. I really hope I can pull this together since it sounds like a party for the ages!

Folks don’t usually get thinking about hotels until the calendar flips, and then everyone compares notes and deals and tries to book in the same place or several places to make it more fun (after parties).

That said, anything downtown will work well.

I was looking at flights the other day.

Southwest isn't as cheap as they used to be for this.

I used to be able to get $160 r/t SMF / DEN for winter trips.

Those days are long gone.

Double that now.

I don't think I'm willing to risk Frontier on this, even though they run a direct on this route.

If there is a hiccup or weather issue, they can't do much to help their pax.

They don't actually care either.
